Early Years

Early Years

A short story about my life in pottery.

I first started learning about ceramics in 2012 at Watauga High School. In the basement classroom that first gave me a feel for working with clay. Slab immediately became my favorite form of creation.

A few years later I continued learning about pottery at Appalachian State under Bob Meier. In Katherine Harper Hall, where I continued to experiment with slab built designs.

After college I worked with the local studio of Barbara Balasty. Down on Artist’s Alley where I learned intricacies of a production studio.

I developed Fold Stoneware in the following years, the name inspired by my favorite form of pottery to make.
