Shelter From
The Storm
Starting 2025 back at
Square One
researching clay types was a huge setback.
I decided to try a more difficult
porcelain claybody.
It would prove to be more difficult than
I could have imagined.
Luckily I could move my studio into my grandmothers basement

First Fire
The Nightmare
was just beginning for my porcelain adventure.
The entire focus of the Fold Brand,
efficiency and strength through the folded slab style,
was rendered completely ineffective with the porcelain claybody.
Cracks Everywhere
an inconsistency that left me confused
The Fold process was, in its attempt to be efficient,
Consistent in its Nature.
A Fundamentally Different Approach was needed
I found porcelain just didn’t match the goal of the Fold Brand.

Beyond the Cracks
The porcelain didn’t survive the studio test.
It just wasn’t the same as
working with Stoneware.
As if the porcelain sucked all the fun out of the craft.
Why waste time on something that makes you
Frustrated
and doesn’t add much to the overall quality.
I named the brand Stoneware
for a reason, so I’m back to square one still looking for a new claybody.
